Hype vs. Substance

Where the tech press is talking loudest relative to what has actually shipped. Compass measures how far each topic's coverage runs ahead of its benchmarked, deployed evidence — and which technologies are quietly shipping more than they're hyped. Measurements, not verdicts.

How to read this. Each topic's coverage is measured against a claim-maturity ladder — rumored → announced → demoed → shipped → deployed → benchmarked. "Running ahead" means the volume of coverage outpaces how far the claims have actually been substantiated; "quietly shipping" is the reverse. It's a measurement of the press, not a judgement of the technology — and every topic links to the cited articles behind it.
