More fun, shorter waits: Disneyland says it added 1.5 million ride experiences in 2025 without new builds

Disneyland achieved this increase through operational improvements focused on attraction reliability and capacity optimization. The resort expanded overnight maintenance windows to complete preventative work before attractions open, adjusted parts management strategies to keep high-demand rides like Radiator Springs Racers operating at maximum capacity, and made behind-the-scenes changes to loading and unloading platforms. For example, Space Mountain was refurbished to improve vehicle efficiency through the station, increasing capacity per hour. The Disneyland Railroad was also modified to run a fourth train during the holiday season by reactivating the water tower in New Orleans Square, which reduced station time. Additionally, the resort restructured installation schedules for seasonal overlays at attractions like Haunted Mansion and "it's a small world," adding nine extra operating days during the holiday season.

Guest behavior accounts for approximately 13 percent of all unplanned downtime at Disneyland attractions. This includes preventable actions such as dropping phones onto ride tracks, jumping out of vehicles, standing up in seats, and other unsafe behaviors. To address this, Disneyland has implemented clearer and better signage at some attractions to help guests load faster and safer, with examples including changes at Incredicoaster and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. By reducing these preventable incidents through improved communication and design, the resort can keep attractions operating more reliably and increase overall guest capacity.
